RoboQuEST is a group of students who are passionate about the interdisciplinary branch of computer science and engineering, robotics. Robotics is a rapidly growing field, including a wide range of areas for students to explore from soft robotics to inverse kinematics.
Currently some of our members are helping to teach year 8 STEM club to code on Raspberry pi's which will then hopefully allow them to code on their own for their Bronze Crest award projects.
This year RoboQuEST has been using AI technology to create a robot to locate and travel to tennis balls in the hope of in the future creating an AI controlled Ball boy. Although this is impressive in itself we hope that in the future the technology could be used for more widespread purposes such as litter collection or bomb disposal which would greatly help the environment and hopefully could save lives. Due to this work RoboQuEST presented the robot at the IRIS London conference, won 3rd prize at the big stem challenge and were interviewed by ITV news which can be seen here.
RoboQuEST is an amazing opportunity to meet like minded people and collaborate on projects that utilise a wide range of skills. We hope to expand this group and help students do a range of projects, whether it’s using robotics for scientific research or developing robots to be entered into competitions.
