BrewQuEST is a newly founded research group focused on exploring the different processes behind the production of beer. This involves us carrying out traditional brewing processes to produce out own batch beer, with support from Shepherd Neame brewery. Throughout this, the beer has been used in various research projects such as creating using the beer to produce bioethanol and the radioactivity of beer.

Over the course of the first year of this research project we have brewed two batches of beer, conducted research into the making of bioethanol and have investigated the radioactivity of various brands of beer. Alongside this we have investigated the changes in yeast generations seeing how they change over time, to do this we used a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) which was loaned to us by the Natural History Museum.

Alongside our research we have been able to present our work at: the Tonbridge conference, the Iris London conference (where we were able to give a presentation to the whole conference) and at the Big STEM Challenge where we won first prize.
